Humor

Just a couple of funny quotes today!

Happy New Year!

you look that says, 'My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' --Dave Barry

"Why does Sea World have a seafood restaurant?? I'm halfway
through my fish burger and I realize, Oh my God.... I could be eating a slow learner."--Lynda Montgomery

desirable job, but if you ever get sucked into doing it, have fun
with it. At the end of the night, drop them off at the wrong house." --Jeff Foxworthy

This and That

So far I would call the surgeries on both hands a huge success! I can actually read my own handwriting again what a great feeling. I would recommend the surgery to any one with nodules. Would I have it performed again, You bet I would.

I know the Arthritis walk is about 6 months away but I am training for it already, I’m walking 2 miles a day about 4 to 5 times a week and I hope to be up to 3 miles a day by the middle of the winter. My goals are to make the walk in Duluth seem like a walk in the park, but more importantly to get and stay in better shape.

Happy holidays to all!

Left Hand & Elbow

Well two days ago I had the nodules (7) removed six on my hand and one on my elbow. the operation was slightly longer than the first. The side effect again was nauseousnes, I drove the Big white Bus several times throughout the next day. Thank god that has passed. My right hand is at 99% and so far no sign of nodules returning. I just pray that no more grow. Even though I’m right-handed I think the recovery might be a bit slower at first do to were the nodule were located. I’ll post an update in the next week or so.

Right Hand Update

My right hand is healing nicely. Its great to have the nodules gone. I think it will be a while before I have regained full strength and flexibility although every day it gets better. The scar tissue can cause some issues when trying to pick up papers and the like.

Hopefully none of the removed nodules will grow back. However I feel that the procedure was highly successful and should any of them return I would consider having them removed as well.

On the 19th of September I have the nodules on my left hand and elbow removed. I am looking forward to having that done and healed. I just pray none of them come back.

Nodual removal

Late Tuesday I had the RA Nodules on my right hand surgically removed. The surgery lasted one hour. According to the Dr. it went well. The biggest side affect in the first 24hrs would be being nauseous most of the time. I have high hopes for the results, I will post more in the following days and weeks to come.

Hand Surgeon

A couple of days ago we meet with a surgeon who specializes in hands and on July 31st. I have the nodules on my right hand surgically removed. I am both very excited and nervous about the operation.

Imagine this the pressure points or pincher points on your hands having pea sized hard bumps and some of the get in the way of just about every thing you do. I have at least 5 on each hand, one of the worst is on the tip of the pad of my right thumb. Several times daily I whack it some how and it hurts really bad. Remember I said I have at least five of the little buggers on each hand.

One of the possible side affects of the procedure is permeant nerve damage in the finger. So after about 5 seconds I told the Doc. lets do it, you see there is no guarantee that they wont grow back. I guess that if I do suffer nerve damage and they grow back they won’t hurt when I whack them.

I know how this sounds and if I was reading this instead of writing it I would probably be thinking is this for real.

A funny thing has happened!

A month or so ago I would be limping by mid day as a result of the Nodules on the bottom and side of my right foot. I knew that the more I use my joints with out hurting them the healthier they would stay. So we started a walking program to get ready for The Arthritis Walk in Duluth on May 19th. The funny thing is since I’ve been walking about 1 mile a day my limp has just about vanished and may be doing the same to the Nodules! How about that. I believe that I will continue to walk the rest of my days. It may seem like a small victory But I feel like I have beat a mobility issue that was looking down my throat.

Arthritis Walk in Duluth is 18 weeks away!

Last year I did it with out any preparation! Not this year! I’ve started training by walking daily I’m at about 1.75 miles a day and plan to get it closer to 3 miles a day ASAP. I’m also on a healthier diet.

I guess you could say I got really mad at RA and decided I was going win and not let it beat me. I have taken a personal challenge to do so. We watched the last season of the Biggest Looser, I’ve decided if Erik the winner who lost 214 lbs could do it why couldn’t I get my self in better shape.

If there is any one out there who is reading this I have a challenge for you. Get up and go for a walk and get in better shape we only live once.

Also remember the Arthritis Walk is a National event check out Arthritis Foundations Web site at http://www.arthritis.org/events/arthritiswalk/default.asp To find a walk near you.
