“Serious infections have happened in patients taking HUMIRA.These infections include tuberculosis (TB) and infections caused by viruses, fungi, or bacteria that have spread throughout the body. Some patients have died from these infections.” This is from http://www.humira.com/
For about five and a half years I took Humira every two weeks until January 5th 2011. I stopped taking it as I thought I was coming down with a cold. By february 12th I was admitted to the Hospital with pneumonia, and other infections. After seven days in the hospital they discharged me with no answers but a list of tests that they wanted to do on an out patient basis. After running a multitude of testes, the local Dr.’s said that they could not figure out what was wrong with me and suggested that I visit the Mayo Clinic, We had already made an appointment in Scottsdale Az.
While we suspect that this may have in part been brought on by the use of Humira, we can not prove so. I have stopped using this drug as of January 5th. The side affects have scared me away from possible future use of this or any similar drug. At this point with my RA the risk of side affects out weights the potential benefit.
